Austin Chapter's "Hey Cupid!" Valentine's Day Celebration

2/11: This event has been canceled. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any questions, please email us at alumni@mccoms.utexas.edu. Thank you.

The Austin Chapter invites you to join them for their "Hey Cupid!" Valentine's Day celebration featuring a presentation on Valentine's Favorite Spirits. Your host will be award winning mixologist David Alan, owner and creator of Tipsy Tech, and a 2010 Austin Chronicle’s "Best of" award winner.

David gives a great, entertaining review of the spirits business and the beverage industry while instructing this hands-on mixology class. David also has an exciting new book: "Tipsy Texan: Spirits and Cocktails from the Lone Star State."

Nancy Marr, MPA '00, will help us organize hors d'oeuvres from The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts where she serves as the special events director. The Escoffier School is a boutique culinary school that incorporates the Farm to Table® ethos into every program. Our menu will feature seasonal creations specially prepared using locally sourced ingredients and items straight from the Escoffier organic garden. For dessert, we again welcome Piq Chocolates founders Levi Lalla and Donovan Crowley, MBA '08. They will present their 3D chocolate company and unique business idea. Piq Chocolates uses traditional hand-made chocolate techniques along with cutting edge technology such as 3D printers, CNC mills, and other rapid prototyping tools to create personalized, one-of-a-kind chocolates unmatched by any other company on the market. Also, their $25,000 KickStarter fund that launched November 2013 was successful. These funds will allow Piq Chocolates to expand production, purchase additional equipment, grow their distribution network, and dramatically lower the cost of their high-quality product.

The festivities will take place at the Wally Workman Gallery. The gallery was established in 1980 and is located in a 100 year old historic house in Austin's art district. Parking is available in the gallery's front and back lots, accessed from the alley off Blanco and Harthan Streets. There is also plenty of free street parking available in the surrounding walkable neighborhood.

Children and guests are welcome to attend.
