The Austin Chapter invites you to come join your fellow McCombs Alumni at the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. We had a blast at our last event hosted by the school.
The Escoffier School is a boutique culinary school that incorporates the Farm to Table® ethos into every program. The school’s mission is to make a positive impact on the direction of the American food culture by offering a fresh, sustainable approach to professional culinary training.
We have prepared a Gourmet Hat Trick:
Gourmet Food: Nancy Marr, MPA ’00, and special events manager at Escoffier, has organized a menu featuring seasonal hors d’oeuvres specially prepared using locally sourced ingredients and items straight from the Escoffier organic garden.
Gourmet Drinks: The Tipsy Texan and 2010 Austin Chronicle’s “Best of” award winning mixologist, David Alan, returns for another McCombs event to conduct a class on holiday drinks. Guests will receive hands on training at individual drink preparation areas as David provides instruction and discusses the history and the business behind the beverage industry during the class. David’s last appearance at our June 2013 Wally Workman Gallery event was highly regarded. The alumni had a blast and we are thrilled to have him back!
Gourmet Chocolate: Piq Chocolates founders Levi Lalla and Donovan Crowley, MBA ‘08, will present their company and unique business idea. Piq Chocolates uses traditional handmade chocolate techniques along with cutting edge technology such as 3D printers, CNC mills, and other rapid prototyping tools to create personalized, one-of-a-kind chocolates unmatched by any other company on the market.
Through their KickStarter fund, launched on Sept. 30, and running through Nov. 11, they hope to raise $25,000. These funds will allow Piq Chocolates to expand production, purchase additional equipment, grow their distribution network, and dramatically lower the cost of their high-quality product.
This is going to be our best event yet! We look forward to seeing you at Escoffier.
